Istanbul Film Festival Programme Announced PDF Print E-mail

After a record breaking 2009, both in terms of attendance numbers and the quality of the programme, the International Istanbul Film Festival is ready to aim even higher with its 2010 programme, which runs from April 3 - 18.

The Golden Tulip this year sees eleven magnificent and breath-taking films competing. From Tsai-Ming Liang's star studded Surat to Xavier Dolan's I Killed My Mother; which was one of the most acclaimed titles of Cannes 2009, the competition will bring to the Istanbul arena the crème-de-la-crème of world cinema. Also amongst the competitors is our very own Nowhere Boy directed by Sam Taylor Wood. Joann Star's biopic of Serge Gainsbourg Gainsbourg (vie Heroique) are also amongst the titles competing.

At a party at The Hospital Club in Covent Garden last night, Festival Republic director Melvin Benn announced the launch of this year's Latitude Festival. Now in its fifth year, Latitude is one of the most culturally rich and diverse festivals on the summer circuit, not only catering for music fans but also including the best of all the artforms including, cinema, theatre, comedy, dance, cabaret, literature, poetry and art. It is truly like taking the best of the Edinburgh Festival, condensing it into three days, adding music and putting it in a field in Suffolk. For a lot of the comedians this is their last big warm-up before the Fringe.
