IdeasTap launches Ideas Fund Shorts, £40,000-worth of funding to help young people realise short film projects. Recognising the wealth of talented young filmmakers in the UK, IdeasTap is offering eight awards of £5,000 each for the most original, engaging ideas. Entries must be for films no longer than five minutes and can include documentaries, conceptual pieces, trailers for features, music videos, fashion films and animated shorts. |

Following the launch of its new International Film Fund (IFF) at the start of the Cannes Film Market, Singapore's Media Development Authority (MDA) today announced the appointment of Hong Kong's Distribution Workshop as the worldwide sales agent for the first batch of films produced under the IFF. |

A report published by the European Commission confirms that 60% of UK applications to the Culture programme in 2008 were successful – out of 25 applications submitted 15, were successful (this excludes applications to the literary translation strand). This is the highest success rate of any participating country submitting more than one project*. |

The San Francisco Film Society and The Kenneth Rainin Foundation announced today that over the next five years they will disburse a series of annual grants totaling $3 million for narrative feature films being made in the San Francisco Bay Area. The SFFS/KRF Filmmaking Grants support films that through plot, character, theme or setting significantly explore human and civil rights, antidiscrimination, gender and sexual identity and other urgent social justice issues of our time. |
